Driving Directions: The Tucson Gem Show is so large that the various exhibition locations are spread all over Tucson, primarily downtown centered around the Tucson Expo Center, but also scattered through the entire city. Ask almost any local or any hotel desk person and they can direct you to their favorite exhibit locations.
The Tucson Gem and Mineral Show is actually a collection of many smaller gem shows by various vendors and facilitators that when taken all together comprise the largest gem show in the world. Vendors and customers come to Tucson from all over the world to attend this show. The Gem Show takes place over a couple of weeks every year, usually in January and February. The Gem Show in Tucson has both wholesale and retail locations. The public can gain admittance to most retail locations but the wholesale shows require special identification for access. This annual Gem Show is the place where many of the worlds jewelers come to purchase their inventory of precious stones that they use all year to make the beautiful jewelry pieces you find in fine jewelry stores throughout the world. The Tucson Gem Show is well worth taking a day or two to visit and enjoy. You will see literally hundreds of tables just covered with piles of precious and semi precious stones. It is truly amazing. Be sure and take your credit card as you are bound to see something that you just must have. If you are planning on attending, book your hotel reservations well in advance. Thousands of people come to town for this event and rooms can be scarce. Wear comfortable clothes and good walking shoes as you will be on your feet all day. Be sure to pick up a handful of gem show schedules, flyers and maps from your hotel so you find your way around. And Lastly, don't forget Valentines Day is February 14th, right after the Gem Show.
