Tucson Moving Expenses Can I Deduct My Expenses When I Move From Tucson?
Tucson Moving Expenses - The short answer is.......Maybe!
There are two main IRS requirements that you have to meet in order to deduct your moving expenses when you leave Tucson.
The first IRS test is the Employment Test. The employment test talks about moving to a new job and the amount of hours you spend at your job. It also talks about the timing of the move as related to the start of your new job.
The second IRS test is the Distance Test. The distance test is basically a 50 mile distance requirement. It states that The new job must be at least 50 miles further from your former home than your old job was.
We do not give tax advice and you should check with your tax professional for such advise, but those are generally the two tests the IRS will use to determine if you can deduct you moving expenses as you are leaving Tucson.
You can get additional free information on those eligibility requirements directly from the IRS. Call them at 800-829-1040 and ask for their publication on moving expenses. You can also visit them online, here is their Moving Expenses Page (Topic 455).
