Tombstone Arizona "The Town too Tough to Die" lies a short drive to the Southeast of Tucson making it an easy day trip that can be enjoyed by locals & visitors alike.
Originally laid out back in 1879 this old cowboy town has survived the test of time. Starting with just about 100 people Tombstone quickly grew to over 7,000 residents by late 1881. At that time Tombstone had more saloons and a larger "red light" district than any other town in the desert southwest. Tombstone reached it's peak population of around 15,000 in the late 1890's and is now a lively little tourist town of about 1,500..
Tombstone is pure and simple, a Theme Town. Tombstone is all about the Old West and they have done a great job of recreating that feel throughout this community. There are old time Saloons where you can grab a tasty lunch, lots of shows like the "Shootout at the OK Corral" and lots of old time stores along the boardwalk lined main street.
Tombstone is a great day trip and you and your visitors will have a great time "Living the Old West"! We go down at least once a year and always have a blast. We like kicking back in one of the saloons with a burger and a brew and watching time drift by.
Other popular Tucson Attractions include Tubac about a hour South of Tucson on I-19, Old Tucson Studios West of Tucson and the Pima Air & Space Museum on the South Side of Tucson.
