The Pines Golf Club is one of the most unique Tucson Golf Courses and it has a colorful history. Originally opened in December of 1997 this course was designed as a Scottish Links style course and was named "The Links at Continental Ranch". It was built along the edge of a large sand and gravel quarry which was up to 100 feet deep!
In 2000, a decision was made to abandon the sand and gravel quarry. An innovative plan to reclaim the land and build the golf course down into the old quarry site was developed. This resulted in a total reconstruction of the site and actually created some additional land for residential development.
There is now a nature trail incorporated into the plan that runs along the Santa Cruz River and makes for a wonderful walk. Take your camera along for some interesting pictures.
The reclamation and renovation of this quarry into a exciting new golf course was a major improvement to the area and golfers seem to really like the new configuration. In addition to new elevation changes, new trees throughout and the elimination of the long links style holes it was decided that a new name was in order, thus was born The Pines Golf Club.
There are no homes for sale at the Pines Golf course. The nearest large subdivision is Continental Ranch.
