Lake Arivaca offers great fishing near Tucson. The lake is located South of Tucson down I-19. You need to drive about 50 miles or so and look for exit 48, that's the Amado exit. Get off there and follow the signs to the small town of Arivaca which is about 25 miles west of the freeway. The lake is located about 5 miles south of the town of Arivaca.
This is a smaller lake of about 90 acres. Lake Arivaca is in the Coronado National Forest and sits at about 3800 feet of elevation. The lake has Bass, including the Largemouth Bass and Catfish. The lake only allows electric motors so this is a quiet peacefully setting.
The little town of Arivaca is just a wide spot in the road, but be sure and stop at the General Store and check it out. You can get some snacks for your fishing trip there and can also gas up the car. Interestingly enough Arivaca is also a very popular "Birding" area. People come from all over the world to view the birds in this area so keep your eyes peeled, you might see some rare and special types of birds.
